  1. division of work: division of work means assigning only one kind of job to each employee.the application of this principle leads to specialization an increase efficiency of each employee.it is applicable to the technical as well as managerial work.
  2. authority and responsibility: there must be parity between authority and responsibility.the authority without corresponding responsibility results in arbitrary as use of it and when responsibility without authority makes a person ineffective. Thus, both should  be essential as counter part of each other and they should go side by side
  3. discipline: discipline means obedience, proper conduct in relation to others and to comply with the established  rules and regulations. It is necessary for the smooth working of business.according to fayol there are three essential parts of discipline.
                                        1}good supervision at all levels
                                        2}clear and fair aggrements and
3}judicious application of penalities or sanctions
4.unity in command: unity in command implies one subordinate has to receive orders from one superior and he {subordinate} must be accountable to him only. That there should be no dual command and multiple commands in the organisation.
5.unity in direction: this principle refers to as directing all the efforts of members of organization for achieveing common goals.fayol says that -- ONE HEAD ONE PLAN FOR A GROUP OF ACTIVITIES HAVING A COMMON GROUP.
6.subordination of  individual interests to general interests: The general interests of a business enterprises should always be higher than the individual or group interests.the following points are taken into consideration for the success of general interests

                                     b}superiors should be reasonable and
c}fair agreements between the employer and employees

  8. centralization and decentralization: centralization means concentration of authority at one place. on the other hand, decentralization means dispersion of authority to lower level of management. fayol says that an organisation should try to achieve a balance between complete centralization and decentralization to get optimum performance from personnel.
9.scalar chain: according to fayol scalar chain is a chain of superiors ranging from a top authority to lowest rank.orders, instructions and messages etc., are to be passed through these establishing chains of authority. Moreover this principle facilitates the principle of command effectively and saves time.
10.order: order means a material order and a social order
a}material order: ' A PLACE FOR EVERYTHING AND EVERYTHING IN ITS PLACE'. It means every article must be placed properly and every placed must be used effectively.
b}social order:  ' A PERSON FOR EVERYONE AND EVERYONE IN HIS PLACE'. It means right person at right place.
11.equity: equity means justice and kindliness.workers performing the same kind of job must be paid equally an must be provided with same service conditions.there should be no favourism by superiors while dealing with the employees.
12.stability: there are no frequent changes in the positions of employees.they should be provided with a sufficient time at a particular job to show their competence and skill.
13.initiative: it means to do something without being asked to do. fayol viewed that the employees should be encouraged to make and execute plans.
14.ESPIRIT DE CORPS: it means team spirit. there must be team spirit and mutual trust between the employees of an organisation.it is also referred to as 'unity is strength'.thus this principle espitit de corps is essential for attaining organizational goals.
